One lesson that Scout and Jem learn is that it's not Atticus's fault for losing the case. Miss Maudie teaching them this when seeing them sad after the jury's decision. This is important to learn because something going to happen and you are going to have no control over.
I can relate by losing my dog to someone running in to it. It's not their fault but your angry at them for what happen. So you can get angry at a person running into your dog when your dog was in the street so it's not all their fault.
